Dear friends – Thanks for coming out to see our production of The Thin Place . This is a very different play than we have produced before. It is, at its heart, an eerie ghost story that felt scary when I read it and made me curious to see what kind of impact it would have on you. The play also made me curious about mediumship, which is a subject that is rarely, if ever, discussed onstage. It is a strange profession, if one can call it that, and got me thinking about how someone finds their way into that kind of work. I kept wondering if what they do is real or an illusion, and whether it really matters if the impact they make provides hope and closure for people that need it most. As I spoke to friends about the topic prior to deciding to produce the play, I found that it prompted a juicy and polarizing discussion. I look forward to hearing what kind of discussions it prompts for you. Enjoy the show,

partner throughout the pandemic. We will kick off the with The Thin Place which will boggle your mind as well as your senses as we create an intimate séance to bring you to the edge of the other world.. Next up is Annapurna , a story about enduring love across the decades. Then on to The Lifespan of a Fact which is based on a true story. Finally, take one play, carve it up three ways and you’ve got The Bake Off! This returning favorite will bring us right to summer. V ermont S tage S taff CRISTINA ALICEA ( Producing Artistic Director) - Cristina Alicea has been Producing Artistic Director of Vermont Stage since 2011. As a director, favorite Vermont Stage credits include the world premieres of Doublewide by Stephen Spotswood and The Quarry by Greg Pierce ( slowgirl, The Landing ), The Clean House by Sarah Ruhl, Venus In Fur by David Ives, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike by Christopher Durang, Dancing Lessons by Mark St. Germain, The Mountaintop by Katori Hall, and The Call by Tanya Barfield. Prior to her arrival in Burlington, Cristina spent a year working as Assistant to the Managing Director at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company and 10 years as a freelance director. Over the years, she has had the pleasure of workingwith The Ensemble Studio Theatre, The Culture Project, ForumTheatre DC, The American Globe Theatre, the FringeNYC Festival, Theatre Rhinoceros, Next Stop Theatre, University of Vermont, and Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. Cristina was a finalist for a Denham fellowship given by the Society of Directors and Choreographers and is a member of the Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab. Bachelor of Arts, Theatre, George Mason University. JAMIEN L. FORREST ( General Manager) - Jamien has served as General Manager of Vermont Stage since 2014. For the past fifteen years she has worked for theaters throughout the region in many capacities including production, design, administration, and education. She was stage manager for Vermont Stage way back in 2005 and then again from 2010-2014. In between stints in Burlington, Jamien lived in New York City where she spent over two years working at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts with Lincoln Center Institute (now called Lincoln Center Education) where she served as technical supervisor and rental coordinator for the Clark Studio Theater and Samuel’s Teaching Studio. She also worked Off-Broadway at NewWorld Stages as stage manager and licensed laser operator for The Gazillion Bubble Show . She was technical director and Youth Theater Director at the Palace Theatre in Manchester, NH, and spent two seasons on tour with American Theater Arts for Youth. As a lighting designer, she has worked for NYCDA and Wallis Knot Theater in NYC, Vermont Stage, Flynn Arts, Middlebury Actors Workshop, and SEABA’s Strut! Fashion Show. CHRIS CASWELL (Linda) - is deeply grateful to have performed in front of live people with sketch comedy troupe Stealing From Work, with Vermont Shakespeare Festival’s Shakespeare: Com- pletely Unbound!, and with Bald Mountain Theater’s Tales From Japan. Pandemic projects included Brave New Classics’ virtual production of Sex, animating the short film & Gretel Hansel, and interviewing artists, pets, and puppets on @interview- minutewpeanut. GINA STEVENSEN (Hilda) - is an actor, playwright, and recent NYC transplant. She received her BFA in Acting from NYU Tisch and her MFA in Playwriting from Columbia University. In Burl- ington she has performed as Beatrice/Dogberry in Much Ado About Nothing (City Hall Park) and“The Front Porch Follies” (BCA grant recipient, Highlight New Year’s Eve). As a playwright, her work has been developed in NYC, London, Florida, Virginia, Ne- vada, and more. She is the 2021 winner of the Kernodle New Play Award, the 2020 winner of the NewWorks Initiative at Good Luck Macbeth Theater, and a 2019 winner of the Columbia@
Roundabout New Play Reading Series. She is the director of Middlebury Acting Company’s American Dreaming: New Play Festival and has been a guest lecturer at Hunter College, NYU Tisch, and the University of Arkansas. www.ginastevensen. com.
LAURA WOLFSEN (Sylvia) - is grateful to be working with the talented cast and crew of Vermont Stage. She starred in in Ver- mont Stage’s production of Relativity and the 2019 The Bake Off of The Foreigner. Laura studied musical theater at Circle in the Square Theatre School in NYC where she performed and as- sistant directed The Cherry Orchard. Some of her favorite roles since returning to settle down in VT include Antonia in The Man of LaMancha, Anne in A Little Night Music, Rosa Bud in The Mys- tery of Edwin Drood with The Skinner Barn Theater, Cinderella with Middlebury Town Hall Theater as well as Julie in Some En-
chanted Evening at the Spruce Peak Arts Center. Recently, she has been seen danc- ing with Ergo Dance Company at the Highland Center for the Arts as well as other venues. Laura also enjoys her current studies at NVU as well as playing, hiking and singing with her two amazing little boys.

LUCAS HNATH (Playwright) - Plays include The Christians (2014 Humana Festival), Red Speedo (Studio Theatre, DC), A Public Reading Of An Unproduced Screenplay About The Death Of Walt Disney (Soho Rep), nightnight (2013 Humana Festival), Isaac’s Eye (Ensemble Studio Theatre), Death Tax (2012 Humana Festival, Royal Court Theatre) and The Courtship of Anna Nicole Smith (Actors Theatre of Louisville). His plays are published by Dramatists Play Service. Lucas has been a resident playwright at New Dramatists since 2011, and is a proud member of the En- semble Studio Theatre. Lucas is a winner of the 2012 Whitfield
Cook Award for Isaac’s Eye and received a 2013 Steinberg/ATCA New Play Award Ci- tation for Death Tax. He has also received commissions from the EST/ Sloan Project, Actors Theatre of Louisville, South Coast Repertory, Playwrights Horizons, New York University’s Graduate Acting Program, and the Royal Court Theatre. Lucas holds a BFA and an MFA from New York University’s Department of Dramatic Writing. P roduction T eam AVERY BACON (Master Electrician) - Avery is a stagehand based out of Burlington, VT and has been working with Vermont Stage since fall of 2014 as a carpenter, elec- trician, and sound hand. He is grateful for the opportunity to return as Master Elec- trician for the 2021-22 Season. DANIEL GALLAGHER (Lighting Designer) - Dan hails from Amherst Virginia and be- gan working backstage during high school. He started to specialize in lighting de- sign while attending Mary Washington College where he received his BA in 2001. Dan then went to the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he received his MFA and designed The Physicists for which he won the 2003 Kennedy Center’s American College Theatre Festival award for best lighting design. After graduating in 2003, Dan taught at UW-Madison as a guest lecturer in lighting design. He moved to New York City after being accepted as the 2005 Gilbert Hemsley intern, where he worked at the Lincoln Center Festival, New York City Opera, New York City Ballet, PBS’s Live From Lincoln Center and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. In the years since Dan has continued to work for these institutions and was the Assistant Lighting Director for NYC Opera from 2007-2012. As a freelance designer, Dan has worked for Vermont Stage, Endstation Theatre, Williams Street Rep, MTWorks, BOO-Arts Pro- ductions, The Cell, On the Square, Madison Rep, Madison Family Theatre, The Flea, AMDA, Manhattan Children’s Theatre, Flamenco Vivo and Miki Liszt Dance Co. He has been a guest artist at Arizona State University, Daytona State College, Ramaz, Connecticut College, Northeastern Illinois University and Lock Haven University. As a project manager for RGB Lights in Chicago from 2013-2016, he oversaw large scale video and lighting productions and installations. Dan is currently teaching at St. Lawrence University in upstate New York. He is a member of United Scenic Artists 829. Outside of the theatre, Dan enjoys cooking, painting, and has logged hundreds of miles on the Appalachian Trail. JORDAN GULLIKSON (Director) - Jordan is an actor, playwright and director. Over the past 20 years he has written 11 plays, six of which have been produced. He was recipient of the 2009 Vermont Contemporary Playwrights Award. Jordan was a co-

writer and artistic collaborator with The Cabaret Guignol, which received its world premiere at the Prague Fringe Festival in 2014. For many years, Jordan has been a teaching artist with Vermont Stage’s Vermont Young Playwrights program. As an actor, Jordan has played Big Jim in Vermont Stage’s World Premiere of Doublewide, Hyde in Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde with Middlebury Actors Workshop, Thomas in Ver- mont Stage’s Venus in Fur, Frank in School for Lies at Waterbury Festival Players, Doug in Gruesome Playground Injuries at Off Center for the Dramatic Arts, and Hamlet in Champlain Theater’s production of Hamlet. Jordan attended the Neigh- borhood Playhouse School of the Theatre, studying with Ron Stetson, Richard Pint- er and Sanford Meisner. Jordan is also a glassblower and poet. JOHN HUGHES (Assistant Stage Manager) - is excited to be back for another Ver- mont Stage show! He has worked on several past productions, including being as- sistant stage manager for Maytag Virgin (2021), I and You (2016) and The Call (2017), Lighting Designer for the 6th annual The Bake Off of Barefoot in the Park (2017), and appearing as Gardener/ Surveyor in Native Gardens (2017). He thanks Vermont Stage for their continued support and allowing him to continue his career in the arts. SARAH SOPHIA LIDZ (Costume Designer) - Sophia is thrilled to be working with Vermont Stage Company for the first time. She has recently returned to Vermont with her family after a 17-year hiatus in NYC. Costume Design credits include Mid- dlebury Actors Company production of A Christmas Carol, independent films, com- mercials and various regional and off-Broadway plays. Design Associate Credits: The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2008-2018, FX miniseries Fosse/Verdon, Broadway: Motown the Musical, Baby it’s You, Lend me a Tenor. Thank you for the opportunity to return to live theatre! CHUCK PADULA (Technical Director) - This is Chuck Padula’s 10th show with Ver- mont Stage. He has been the Technical Director for Vermont Stage for the past 3 seasons. He recently designed and built the July production of Popcorn Falls. He has previously been the Designer and Technical Director for Vermont Stage’s productions of Fun Home, Curious Incident, The Roommate and Marie & Rosetta. Chuck has worked as the TD at Mount Mansfield Union HS for the last 12 years. He has also TD’d at Champlain Valley Union HS, Essex High School, Theatre Factory in Burlington, at Brown Ledge Camp in Colchester, as well as several theaters in the Boston area. When not working in theater, Chuck runs Professional Home Detail, a small construction company, specializing in bathroom and kitchen remodeling. JESSWILSON (Sound Designer) - Jess is grateful for the opportunity to return to live theatre with Vermont Stage Company, especially since her work on VSC’s 2020 pro- duction of The Pitman Painters was cut short by the pandemic. Other VSC credits include Projections Designer for The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time (2018) and Assistant Stage Manager for A Streetcar Named Desire (2000). She is a member of the sketch comedy troupe Stealing From Work - providing sound de- sign, projections design, and stage management since the company’s inception.
