PLAY READING GROUP Later on in the fall, we relaunched our Play Reading Group, which typically gathers in the summer, for a series of intimate discussions about Pulitzer Prize-winning and - nominated plays. For the October conversation, we welcomed guest artist Jen Moeller to speak about her costume design for the original Broadway production of Sweat , by
Lynn Nottage. In December, director Danya Taymor joined us to discuss how she brought Will Arbrey’s play Heroes of the Fourth Turning to life Off -Broadway.
THE HEROES PROJECT In partnership with the Vermont Arts Council, Weston will be co-sponsoring an educational theatre residency in the winter and spring of 2021, led by teaching artists and actress Susan Haefner. Susan will be working with third grade students at Cavendish Elementary School on the “Heroes Project,” during which students will create their own personal superhero and develop their collaboration, communication, literacy, and social-emotional skills. Using theater, music, and dance, Susan will help students discover the heroes within themselves.
